The Ritzville Adams County Journal’s staff roster includes a pair of new names. Katelin Davidson of St. Paul, Ore., joined the staff on Nov. 14, as the newspaper’s news editor. Key Peninsula residents David and Nancy Ahrens signed all the necessary paperwork Tuesday to take ownership of the shuttered Best Building Supply business. Marilyn Kay (Davey) Lesser died Nov. 18, 2011, at Mesa, Ariz. She was born March 9, 1940, in Lincoln, Neb. She graduated from the University of Lincoln and was an English teacher and realtor. After moving to Mesa, Ariz., she taught English as a second language. She was a first runner up for Miss Nebraska. Eugene Ross Sitton died on Nov. 14, 2011, at the age of 94 in Apache Junction, Ariz. He was born on March 30, 1917, in Washtucna, to Fey and Georgia Sitton. He was married on Sept. 29, 1940, to Mildred Schlecht, who preceded him in death on Jan. 30, 2004. They were married 63 years at the time of her death. Well, there goes the Seattle Times again pushing the City Council to ban plastic bags only two years after voters said “fuhgeddaboutit.” It apparently was driven to take up the cudgel again by the finding in West Seattle last year of a beached whale that had more than 20 plastic bags in its stomach. Now I like whales as much as anybody but I would be curious to know what kind of bags they were so their source could be identified. The AAUW Holiday Bazaar will be held Saturday, Dec. 3, at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Ritzville Grade School.
