    Playing on a frozen Cheney High School football field, the LRS Broncos earned their right to play in the WIAA 2B State Semifinals with a 43-0 win over the Colfax Bulldogs.   • Madrigal dinner planned for trio of communities

    The Kahlotus, LaCrosse and Washtucna music departments are presenting a “Madrigal Dinner” at each of the schools during the month of December. The 15th century, English castle style dinner also features musicians, actors and a court jester to provide entertainment.     The Washtucna Associated Student Body (ASB) officers are sponsoring the Cheryl Tobin Community Food Drive from Nov. 25 until Dec. 12. Donations of canned goods and nonperishable foods are being accepted all-day at the Washtucna School.     Hopefully 2013 will be different than the last five holiday seasons. From 2008-2012, an average of 49 people died in traffic crashes in Washington between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day.

    Washington State Patrol responded to an injury, semi-truck rollover on State Route 261 on Wednesday, Nov. 13, around 1 p.m., with WSP reporting speed to be the cause of the rollover. The accident occurred 20 miles south of Ritzville with two injuries reported at the accident site.     The Ritzville School Board of Directors unanimously approved to submit a resolution for a replacement Maintenance and Operation (M&O) levy during the regular board meeting on Nov. 25. The levy, which appears on the Feb. 11 ballot, replaces the current M&O levy that is in place in the school district.
