    Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, the Ritzville Adams County Journal is operating under an earlier deadline for the Nov. 26 edition of the paper. The deadline for advertising submissions is Monday, Nov. 23, by 12 p.m. and news deadlines are 5 p.m. the same day. The newspaper will return to regular deadlines the following week.     Michele Kiesz of Ritzville was elected as a new Trustee on the Columbia Basin Development League Board effective in January. Kiesz is Vice President of Kiesz Farms and President of Patty Kagele Farms. She farms dryland ground in the Ritzville area and manages irrigated ground in Grant County within the Odessa Ground Water Replacement study area. Kiesz will serve a three-year term.     At the recent Lind Town Council meeting, held on Nov. 10, multiple motions were made with only some carrying. This meeting held many decisions tabled from the previous meeting, as well as several new motions and information. The first topic discussed regards the Lind Park irrigation project which has been a topic at previous meetings.   • Bauman receives maximum sentence in child abuse case

    After pleading guilty to one count of assault of a child in the second degree, Adams County Superior Court Judge Steve Dixon sentenced Dylan Bauman to 10 years with the Department of Corrections and 18 months community custody on Nov. 9. Prosecuting Attorney Stacie Summerhill presented the case on behalf of the State, and began by saying both parties had agreed on a sentence above the standard range in the interest of justice.   • Commissioners sign gravel bid

    The Adams County Commissioners accepted the winter gravel-crushing bid for upcoming projects. There were two bids received for the project that the County Engineer Scott Yaeger estimated to cost $766,176. The first was from DeAtley Crushing Company for $749,291 and the second came in from Seubert Excavators, Inc with the bid of $584,116.     TURKEY TIME! Area residents packed into the American Legion Hall in Ritzville on Nov. 14 to participate in the annual Turkey Bingo event, hosted by the Ritzville Lions Club.     Marion J. Kembel, 86, of Spokane, died on Sunday, November 1, at her home following a brief illness. She was born on January 10, 1929 in Ephrata to Vincil F. and Kloma J.     Mike Haase, 81, died peacefully in Moses Lake on Nov. 14. Mike was born July 22, 1934 on the family farm outside Ralston. He was the son of John and Clarissa Haase. After graduating from Lind High School, Mike was drafted and served in the army for two years, stationed in Fort Lewis.
