    The Ritzville Nazarene Church Youth Group is selling Poinsettias to raise money to attend the National Nazarene Youth Conference in Louisville, Kentucky. All orders must be placed by Nov. 16 and will be delivered in early December. Three sizes of Poinsettias are available for purchase: four-inch plants cost $8; six-inch plants are $12; and eight inch Poinsettias are $18. Poinsettias are available in red, pink or white.     The family favorite Turkey Bingo event returns to the C.J. Newland American Legion Memorial Hall on Saturday, Nov. 15, hosted by the Ritzville Lions Club. From 12-8 p.m., attendees have the chance to win a turkey or two, just in time for Thanksgiving.   • Local band headlines at the Ritz Theatre Saturday

    This Saturday the Ritz Theatre will raise the curtain on its main stage for Bloodline a local group who will perform a mix of hits past and present, including songs by Toto, Earth Wind and Fire, Maroon 5 and many more.   • AAUW preps for holiday bazaar

    Holiday shoppers are invited back to the 41st Annual Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Ritzville Grade School. The admission-free event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the school, located at 401 East Sixth Avenue. The Ritzville branch of American Association of University Women (AAUW) sponsors the event and the profits from are used to fund STEM programs for young women in the local communities.   • Upgrades begin at EARH

    Construction projects have officially began at East Adams Rural Hospital, and residents and patients can expect projects to be ongoing in the upcoming months. The projects began with the installation of a main service electrical line, installed by Avista Utilities, for the hospital to begin working on the essential electrical projects that were cited by the Department of Health last year.     Voter turnout in Adams County nearly doubled the national average as of the latest tabulation on Nov. 7 with 55.94 percent of elegible voters participating in this year’s midterm election. The Associated Press reported national voter turnout at 36.6 percent. As of Nov. 7 however, all but one race was decided in the 2014 vote.   • Council approves hospital’s road closure request

    The Ritzville City Council approved the East Adams Rural Hospital’s request to close one block of Washington Street as a staging area for the construction, which is beginning Nov. 18. The street closure would primarily affect access to hospital owned property. The council added the caveat to the agreement that the hospital would be responsible to repair any damage that occurs to the street.
