The family favorite Turkey Bingo event returns to the C.J. Newland American Legion Memorial Hall on Saturday, Nov. 14, hosted by the Ritzville Lions Club. From 12-8 p.m., attendees have the chance to win a turkey or two, just in time for Thanksgiving. The H.E. Gritman Senior Center will host its monthly pancake breakfast this Friday, Nov. 13. The hours of the event have been changed to 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Breakfast will feature pancakes, a choice of ham or sausage and coffee with a suggested donation of $5 per person. The breakfast serves as a fundraiser for the senior center and is held the second Friday of every month, except during the summer. The H.E. The Ralston Grange sponsored “Veteran’s Appreciation Night” will be held at their hall in Ralston on Tuesday, Nov. 17. The night begins with a potluck dinner at 6 p.m., with ham, turkey, beverages and table service provided by the Grange. A new nonprofit organization has been created in Ritzville. SNYP, Spay Neuter Your Pet, will assist low-income families in Ritzville, Lind, Sprague and Washtucna to have their pets spayed or neutered. Their aim is to provide a family with a coupon to offset or cover the cost of a pet’s spay or neuter procedure. The irrigation district has two projects occurring now that involves the closure of two roads. The Lind-Warden road is closed from the Grant County line for three miles. There is a detour set up to bypass the closed section. This road closed on Nov. 2 and will remain closed until January for a siphon project. The Calloway Bridge will also be closed beginning on Nov. 9, while crews widen the canal. The project concludes in March 2016....

As the construction at East Adams Rural Hospital continues to fall behind schedule, Leone Keeble, Inc. has brought in a new foreman to bring the project back on schedule. Superintendent John Stinson replaces Jacob Edlund as the foreman on the local project. Apollo Solutions Group Business Unit Manager Mike Fuentes said the project would progress quicker after the change of foreman. The 2B Regional Volleyball Tournament took place over the weekend for Districts seven and nine. The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Lady Broncos began the tournament ranked as number four. Their first match was Wednesday, Nov. 4, versus Tri-Cities Prep. The Lady Broncos fell to Tri-Cities Prep with set scores of 11-25, 10-25 and 22-25. Barbara J (Snider) Steinmetz, 64, died November 3, after a courageous battle with pneumonia. She died peacefully in Ritzville. She was born October 2, 1951 in Spokane, the daughter of Jimmie and Glenna (Hawkins) Snider. After graduating from Ritzville High School in 1970, Barbara attended WSU and Kinman Business College. The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos have earned a trip to the First Round State Playoffs, following a decisive victory against Kettle Falls in the Crossover game. The Broncos hosted the Bulldogs on Jimmie Snider Field on Nov. 6 where they earned 49-13 win to move into the state playoffs.
