Fall Fest at the Ralston Grange Hall will be Sunday, Oct. 22, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Children from all of the surrounding communities, ages 3 to 12, are invited to take part. The school year has begun and with it a new year of FFA. Our chapter has been very busy with the soils judging season. They have competed at several events, one in Garfield County on Oct. 4 and one on Oct. 12 in Spokane County. The next competition is on the 18th and our team is excited to go. Thomas Leroy Meise, 82, of Moses Lake died on Friday, Oct. 13, in Spokane. Tom was born on the family farm near Benge on April 19, 1935, to Fred and Alvina Meise. He was the youngest of eight children. Tom attended school in Benge until fifth grade and then furthered his education at Washtucna School through his graduation in 1954. The Lady Tigercats had two back-to-back days of competition during the previous week, resulting in two league victories for the team. Caring Neighbors, a nonprofit entity established by Big Bend Electric Cooperative, recently donated $1,800 to the Washtucna Public Development Authority.
