The Ralston Grange will host their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. at the grange hall in Ralston. At the meeting Golden Sheaf members will be honored for 50 years of service. The annual Bronc Booster Club Membership Drive is set to conclude on Tuesday, Oct. 15. A memorial service for Adams County Superior Court Judge Brian Miller will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 3 p.m. at the C.J. Newland American Legion Memorial Hall. Miller died Saturday, Oct. 28, after a long and arduous battle with cancer. The results are in from the recent Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over DUI enforcement campaign conducted from Aug. 16 through Sept. 2. In Grant and Adams Counties, preliminary numbers show that 38 motorists were stopped and arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs (DUI), and statewide, law enforcement officers arrested 1,420 drivers for DUI. A summer-long construction project is nearing the end and the opening of Ritzville’s newest business is expected in a couple of weeks. With the opening comes about 60 new jobs for the community. The new booster pump station, which will improve the delivery of water to businesses based on Galbreath Way, Smitty’s Boulevard and the new Love’s Travel Store & Country Store, was tested last week. Hospital really not needed. Let me define what I suggested early in building an emergency room, lab and heliport. The emergency room is there to get serious cases ready for transport to a Spokane hospital and to also service the people that have medical problems during the hours that the clinic is closed. Dr. William (Bill) Ritchey died at the age of 94 on Oct. 1 at his home in Gig Harbor, Wash. He graduated from Whittier College in 1939, and the Iliff School of Theology in 1942. He served Methodist churches and the Home Missions Council in Colorado and Arizona from 1939 to 1946. He moved to Washington in 1946, and served churches at Garfield, Lind, Yakima and Des Moines.
