    The annual Wheat Land Communities’ Fair Junior Livestock Sale ran smoothly, as coordinators and exhibitors worked together for another successful event. The auction grossed $107,219, according to Livestock Sale Treasurer Lori Williams. The Saturday afternoon auction on Sept. 5 featured over 40 exhibitors with a total of 69 animals being sold at the auction.   • Lind partners with Ecology to solve stormwater issues

    The Department of Ecology has changed their policy on the grant they offer to assist cities with their stormwater issues, which affects the Town of Lind. Normally, to apply for the grant the town must already be under order to deal with their stormwater problems, Lind is not but has still been provided with the grant money to proceed with the project. This project to protect the water quality of the Lind Coulee is being 90 percent funded by the Ecology, who are providing $559,923 of the total $658,733 cost for the stormwater... Full story

    As a result of the ongoing drought conditions in Washington State, Adams County has implemented the Livestock Forage Disaster Program (LFP). LFP is authorized when drought conditions, as determined by the US Drought Monitor, reach a minimum level of D-2 (indicating severe drought) for eight consecutive weeks or longer during the established grazing period.     The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos earned a second decisive victory on Friday after going on the road to defeat Mary Walker in Springdale. The LRS team showed their skill and expertise as the team ran to a 40-0 league win.     Cora A. Hunter, 94, of Yakima, died Sept. 10, at Peach Tree Retirement Center. Cora was born in Texas on February 2, 1921, to Ira and Bessie Bearden. She grew up on a farm in Oklahoma in a large family of eight girls and two boys. Cora graduated from Dixon High School in Ardmore, Oklahoma.     Two women who have been friends since high school are bringing their dreams to life by opening the Ritzville Magpie Nest. This store is set to have something for everyone. Named for a magpie, which by definition is a scavenger, they plan to scavenge the area for vintage items to fill their nest with. They will feature vintage and repurposed items as well as crafts.     The H.E. Gritman Senior Center is planning to once again sell barbecue chicken as a fundraiser. The sale is set for Friday, Sept. 18, beginning at 2 p.m. and continuing until they are sold out.
