After resounding success last year, the Reviving Rural Downtowns Workshop will be returning to downtown Ritzville on Sept. 21-22. Hosted by the Adams County Development Council (ACDC). The Adams County Historical Society will hold its annual meeting during a regular board meeting, set for Monday, Sept. 26, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Lind Community Church. Adams Conservation District (ACD) announced the second sign up period for the Palouse Watershed Regional Conservation Partnerships Program (RCPP). The program helps landowners establish voluntary incentive-based conservation practices, which enhance operations, improve soil and water quality, and develop wildlife habitat. ACD is committed to help landowners install 20 acres of riparian buffer and 2,000 acres of conservation tillage by June 2020. The Ritzville Festivals Association is gearing up for the annual Penny Auction on Saturday, Nov. 5, at the American Legion Hall. The family-friendly event runs from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., and lunch is served at noon. After the Penny Auction, the Festivals Association will host the Christmas Tree Sale on Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Festivals building on Railroad Avenue. Ritzville Fire Chief Bill Banner and Assistant Fire Chief Joel Bell requested the Ritzville City Council’s permission to purchase head sets for use on city fire calls during the meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 6. The annual Wheat Land Communities’ Fair Junior Livestock Sale ran smoothly, as coordinators and exhibitors worked together for another successful event. The auction grossed $76,955, according to Livestock Sale Treasurer Lori Williams. The Saturday afternoon auction on Sept. 3 featured over 40 exhibitors with a total of 81 animals being sold at the auction.
