The Ritzville Branch of American Association of University Women will be holding a used book sale in downtown Ritzville on Saturday, Sept. 12, in conjunction with the annual health fair. A wide selection of books will be available in all genres. Patrons will be given a bag and pay only $5 for what they can put into it. The H.E. Gritman Senior Center is planning to once again sell barbecue chicken as a fundraiser. The sale is set for Thursday, Sept. 18, beginning in the afternoon and continuing until they are sold out. The barbecue will be set up in front of the senior center so as to not block any downtown parking areas. The Ritzville City Council met on Tuesday, Sept. 1, and began the meeting by passing a motion to provide up to $10,000 for the Well No. 9 Project. This was a unanimous decision. The Marcellus Road project will officially be beginning with the closing of the road from Sept. 21 through Nov. 16, 2015. This will be for the first phase of the three phase project set to be finished in June of 2016. The work on the road will be from Tokio Road to Davis Road. The first phase consists of earthwork for the shoulder widening of the road, replacing culverts and the realignment of the North side of Marcellus at Davis and Rocky Ford Road, this will cost an estimate of $420,000. The Mobile Food bank from Second Harvest is coming to Ritzville on Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., to the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Ritzville. The location is 206 S. Division in Ritzville. The food bank is a free food distribution of produce, nutritious perishable products and other groceries for all families in need of food assistance.
