The Washtucna High School music department is hosting an authentic German dinner on Sunday, Sept. 15, at 5:30 p.m. in the Washtucna School gymnasium. The event also features the Oom Pas and Mas German Band from Odessa. The H.E. Gritman Senior Center is kicking off the fall season with the return of pancake breakfast on Friday, Sept. 13, from 7:30 a.m. until noon. For the occasion, the menu will highlight German sausage to accompany the traditional all-you-can-eat pancakes, ham, coffee and juice. Everyone is invited to attend. East Adams Rural Hospital and the Inland Northwest Blood Center are hosting a blood drive in Pioneer Plaza on Sept. 14, in coordination with the annual Health Fair. The blood drive volunteers are being coordinated by Kellie Ottmar and donation hours run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in downtown Ritzville. The eighth annual Safety, Health and Wellness Fair returns to Pioneer Plaza on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and is hosted by Adams County Public Hospital District No. 2. The Lind Post Office is being evaluated by the United States Postal Service to determine the best course of action for providing postal services to the community of Lind in the future. Reduced hours of operation, or actual closure of the post office are being considered. Seventy-two entries lined Main Avenue on Saturday morning to celebrate the start of the Kiddie Parade and Ritzville Community Parade, hosted by the Ritzville Area Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Ritzville Festivals Association. Lenard (Lennie) Roth died at the age of 90 on Aug. 3 in Spokane. He was born July 26, 1923, to John and Lydia Roth, first generation Russian/German immigrants, at the family farm north of Lind. He attended Lind schools through the eighth grade and went straight to farming with his father, which was his passion. He received an honorary Lind High School diploma later in life for his great community involvement and support. He took over the farm operations from his folks in the...
