Walletta (Walle) Gwyn Hayes passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 7, in Spokane at the age of 69. She was born on May 29, 1943, in Poulsbo, Wash., to Georgia (Jo) Harmon Bruner and Wallace W. Davis. Lawrence L. “Larry” Johnson passed away Thursday, Aug. 9, in Colbert, Wash., at the age of 70. He was born July 1, 1942, to Edward and Florence Johnson in Ritzville. June 25, 4:16 p.m. – Officer Tom Gracie responded to a possible juvenile problem in the 100 block of West Main Avenue. The complainant advised of juveniles skateboarding and smoking. Officer Gracie contacted the complainant who provided information on the juveniles. Officer Gracie located the juveniles at the skate park. I know that one is never too old to learn something. I watched some of the last two games that the women and men played at the Olympics. I channel surfed and found one of the games Friday night and it occurred to me that this wasn’t pro basketball but a real fight for the gold medal. President Obama’s national health care law, the Affordable Care Act (ACA), will extend health care coverage to tens of millions of uninsured Americans. But health care coverage isn’t the same as health care. The problem is a shortage of doctors.
