  • Honesty is best

    Dale Anderson|Updated Aug 13, 2024

A few days ago, I was thinking about a guy that had been hired at a place where I worked years ago. What is interesting about this guy is how he could involve himself in almost any conversation. It seems that this guy did it all. As we listened, it became quite clear that this guy had trouble keeping a job because he couldn’t tell the truth. This guy was in his early 30s, yet he had already driven over one million miles as a long-haul trucker. When someone asked what I did ove...

  • Time for me to move on

    Dale Brown|Updated Aug 12, 2024

When my daughter Darcy suggested I come out of retirement to write for the local newspaper, I was skeptical. After a long career with the federal government as an audit manager at the Department of Housing and Urban Development, I was enjoying the freedom of setting my own schedule, writing occasional freelance articles and ministering in my local church. Jumping back into a regular work schedule, albeit part-time, seemed unappealing. But two years later, I'm glad I accepted...

8 Years Ago Adams County News August 16, 1899 Let well enough alone The Sunday closing proposition evidently works a hardship on many people, judging from the loud protest that goes up against it by a large majority of our citizens. To us it seems that if the merchant and businessmen generally wish to accommodate customers on Sunday where circumstances almost demand it, there should be no serious objection to it, more especially during this busy season of the year. The...

  • Initiatives target state greenwash effort

    Roger Harnack|Updated Aug 12, 2024
