    The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for portions of central, east central and north central Washington. Strong post frontal winds late on July 7 through the evening may result in area of blowing dust across the Moses Lake area and southern portions of the Upper Columbia Basin. Blowing dust can rapidly reduce visibilities resulting in difficult or hazardous driving conditions. The main concern is along the I-90 corridor between the Moses Lake area and Ritzville....

    The Lind Combine Derby gained national attention through a one-time special sports production by KHQ in 2009. KHQ won an Emmy for its production, “The Derby,” with Jordan Caskey, producer/editor; Scott Warder, photographer/producer; Ryan Coe, photographer; and Josh Godfrey, photographer.     The Washington State Patrol has launched a new website where individuals can request a copy of their police traffic collision reports, reducing the time period to receive the report.     Adams County is currently exploring various options in solid waste transportation and disposal after the current solid waste disposal contract with Allied Waste Service expired on June 30, 2011. The county has worked for more than two years to build its fleet of trailers for hauling solid waste. The contract with Sam Villarreal Trucking for hauling was amended on June 27 to reflect changes in where county waste is hauled.     Eight Ritzville firefighters responded to the Top Hat Motel around 10:15 a.m. Tuesday morning where evergreen shrubs were ablaze. Initially, it was reported as a structure fire. The Ritzville fire truck, a brush truck and the rescue rig were on the scene and used 750 gallons of water.     The Ritzville Public Library is hosting the Literacy Lab, a non-profit organization that travels the country putting on free children’s programs at small and rural libraries, this weekend.
