  • Annual fireworks show returns July 3

    Ritzville’s annual community fireworks show will take place on Monday, July 3, at the field next to the East Adams Care Center, located on 506 South Jackson Street. Community members are invited to celebrate Independence Day with an evening filled with fireworks, snacks and entertainment. The fireworks show will begin at dusk and snacks such as snow cones, popcorn and hot dogs will be available for attendees to enjoy. East Adams Rural Healthcare (EARH) is sponsoring the event.   • Commissioners sign contract with CWA for Lind-Warden Road project

    The Adams County Board of Commissioners approved a concurrence with Central Washington Asphalt Inc. (CWA) for the Lind-Warden Road Project during the regular meeting on Monday, June 19. County Engineer Scott Yaeger informed the Board he only received one bid from CWA for the project. The project consists of filling the culvert and a shoulder repair. CWA bid $195 per ton for the culvert filling and $225 per ton for the shoulder repair. Yaeger states the bid includes taxes and any other addition charges. He requested the Board... Full story

    Community members are invited to celebrate Independence Day the “old-fashioned” way at Bassett Park in Washtucna. The day begins with the Firemen’s breakfast at 6:30 a.m. and will be serving until 9 a.m. The parades will begin at 10:30 a.m. starting with the kiddie parade, followed by the main parade.     The Lind Town Council discussed scheduling a public meeting for community members to voice their opinions about the marijuana moratorium during the regular meeting on Tuesday, June 13.     Tommi Sue Swannack, a senior at Sprague High School has earned a position on the Washington State National High School rodeo team. Swannack will be traveling with fellow teammates to Gillette, Wyoming, on July 16-22 to compete at the 69th annual National High School Finals Rodeo (NHSFR) in the goat tying and Light Rifle competitions.     Adams County Fire District No. 2 Chief Kevin Starring posted a burn ban for residents in the district from June 18 to Oct. 1. No open fires for burning of vegetation or other matter are permitted in town or in rural areas. Agricultural burns with permits and backyard recreational fires are still allowed.
