Alex McGregor of the McGregor Company will serve as the keynote speaker for the Adams County Development Council’s annual banquet on Friday, June 26. The banquet will be held at the C.J. Ritzville Fire Chief Jim Bostic presented during the general membership meeting of the Ritzville Area Chamber of Commerce on June 10 about the need for the local communities to create a disaster plan. Bostic stressed the importance for the discussion about disaster plans needing to be created for local businesses. An estimated 250 attendees gathered at the Lind Dryland Research Station to participate in the 100th Anniversary of the Lind Field Day on June 11. The day’s activities included learning about the history of the event, as well as learning about new crop potential in the dryland area, including triticale and winter peas. When the dust settled in Lind Lions Club Arena on Saturday night, Brian Jeske and Eric Labes stood victoriously on their combines as the 2015 Lind Combine Demolition Derby champions. After three other combines had been knocked out of the finals, Jeske, Labes and Devin Hamiliton were left battling for the championship. Matthew Walter Bren died unexpectedly on June 7, the result of an auto accident. Matt was born to Frank and Donna Bren October 1, 1979. Matt attended elementary school in Odessa, and later St. Regis, MT, before his family moved to Lind.
