Open burning within Adams County and the city limits of Ritzville will close at dusk on Sunday, June 18, according to Adams County Fire Protection District No. 1 Chief Scott Kembel and Ritzville Fire Chief Bill Banner. No open fires for the burning of vegetation or other matter are permitted in town or in rural areas. Agricultural burns with permits and backyard recreational fires are still allowed. Ritzville Police Chief Dave McCormick provided a department update for the previous month during the Ritzville City Council meeting on June 6. The department assisted the Lincoln County Police Department in serving search warrants at a local residence on May 25, 27 and June 6, stated McCormick. He said they arrested four subjects in result of their search warrants. They also arrested an individual who had who had been involved in the burglary of a local service station. The Ritzville Water Park Staff are preparing for the summer season after hosting a grand opening on Saturday, June 10. Manager Natalie McKinney said they are looking forward to a successful summer with a variety of classes and events planned for community members. The Ritzville Rodeo Association Youth Drill Team is in the process of conducting a unique and interactive fundraiser throughout the community. The Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) is hosting a garage sale and raffle fundraiser on Saturday, June 17, at the Ritzville Nazarene Church. MOPS is a local support group for moms that come together once month to learn, support, encourage and grow together as moms.
