  • The Day Will Come

    Dale Anderson|Updated Jun 12, 2014

If a person looks back on their lives and thinks about some of those great moments I’m sure they can think of a defining point where they can say, “That’s when I got it.” In other words, whatever point someone had been trying to get across the individual finally learned. Maybe it was in school, and nothing seemed to be clicking. Then all of a sudden the brain clears out some of the other items and it all makes sense. Maybe it is a relationship with someone when it all makes p...

  • Bulldog News: School concludes with fun activities for local students

Sharon Anderson, LRMS ASB Reporter|Updated Jun 12, 2014

It’s the last week of school and the students at Lind-Ritzville Middle School (LRMS) are excited for summer break. There are still some final things to be done, though. Monday was the annual Silverwood trip for the middle school and high school bands. They went to Silverwood and played their instruments for half an hour and went on all of the rides. The band members were really excited for the trip to the popular theme park. Thank you to Jennifer York and all of the chaperones that went, we had a great time. Tuesday was o...

  • Barking Points: Year End Summary

Emma Aldrich, LRMS Student Correspondent|Updated Jun 12, 2014

Many of the billions of people in our society would argue that time is a steady stream of seconds, pulsating one after the other, minute after minute, while we occupy the empty void in between with our lives. Others, like me, believe that the passage of time is not only relative to but highly dependent on the things that we do to occupy that time. The 179 days that Lind-Ritzville Middle School (LRMS) students and I have spent at school this year, we have filled every fleeting moment as it rushed by with bursts of knowledge,...

  • Focus on making the town better instead of criticizing

    Updated Jun 12, 2014

I am writing in reference to Dede Brown’s recent letter regarding the discontinuation of the Western Art Show. The show was not discontinued for trivial reasons or because those involved had lost interest. One person who held a leadership role in planning the show was also dedicated to another project that benefits the community. He has given that project more attention than the average individual would give to a full time job! There was simply not the time to give full attention to both projects. Another person who had b...

  • Postage stamps are inaccurate

    Updated Jun 12, 2014

I was asked at the Post Office this morning when purchasing a book of stamps, if I would like a book of U.S. Flag stamps. With a World War II dad and a Vietnam little brother, I said sure. Took one look and my heart sank, as I was looking at the American Flag backwards. What a shame. A real slam at our Old Glory. A proud past member of Eugene Kirby American Legion Auxillary. Diane Eastman, Ritzville...

    Updated Jun 12, 2014

June 14 commemorates “Flag Day” – a day when millions of Americans, schools, government buildings, businesses and gravesites will display the symbol that captures the spirit of American ideals and freedoms – the American flag. Since 1777, the Stars and Stripes have proudly represented America at home and abroad, on every fighting front from the shores of Normandy to every mission of peace. While the flag may have changed in appearance, with additional stars added as our nation has grown, the spirit of the Stars and Stripes...

  • Here Today, Gone Tomorrow

    Sandra Weigand|Updated Jun 12, 2014

I helped a friend of mine with her daughter’s graduation reception. The daughter, Elizabeth, and friend, Caitlin, held a joint celebration and I would guess that about 150-200 people from infancy to lavishly mature stages of life attended. The tables filled quickly, plates were heaped with varieties of homemade delights, and the festive roar of friendly dialogue filled the room. Elizabeth and Caitlin are fine examples why, in a world and culture in which there seems to be little to admire anymore, we can still take pride i... Full story
