  • Paper is missing “the beef”

    Updated May 30, 2013

“Where’s the beef?” Many of us remember the commercial with three elderly ladies, looking for the beef patty amid the giant bun. It has become a catch phrase questioning the substance of something. The phrase came to mind as I sat to write this letter. I have noticed during the past year there is less in the way of news articles in our local newspaper, but more sports pictures and well, just general fluff. Don’t get me wrong, these have their place in our community newspaper, but gone are the articles on Ritzville and Lin...

  • New hospital is the only alternative

    Updated May 30, 2013

First off! Kudos to Eric Walker, for his excellent presentation on the need for the new hospital. I agree 100 percent with his analysis. I know most of us are concerned about the cost but the advantages definitely out-way the disadvantages in the long run. This town has a reputation for continuing to kick the can down the road so it becomes someone else’s problem instead of dealing with the issue at hand and resolving it in a timely, necessary and responsible manner. The new hospital, not a compromised renovation of the o...

    Dale Anderson|Updated May 30, 2013

The Glory Days game last Saturday was very well attended by fans who were cheering for relatives and former classmates. Some were curious as to the caliber of football that would be played and it was pretty good. The Odds team would win 13-0 in a very physical game. Coach Mike Lynch had a good time blocking for, and against so many of the ‘youngsters’ he coached in his 30 plus years as a head coach for the Ritzville and Lind-Ritzville Broncos. Games like this don’t happe...

From the very beginning of our nation, Americans have answered the call of duty to protect the... Full story

  • An iFuture for graduates

    Pastor Steve Schofstoll|Updated May 30, 2013

Lind Assembly of God Church About 15-20 years ago, when many things in our society were going digital, it became common to label them with the letter “e,” for example e-mail, e-business, e-book, and e-banking (“e” of course standing for “electronic”). Starting with the iMac in 1998, the company Apple has used the letter “i” to market products that we’ve all become very familiar with, such as the iPhone, iPod, iPad and iTunes. Originally, the “i” meant “internet,” but it has come to represent other words like intelligent, i...
