The Broncos hosted the NE 2B Sub Districts in Ritzville on May 9 and are now gearing up for Districts. The Lady Broncos continued their success at meets by scoring 50 points, and placing sixth. The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Lady Broncos suffered a loss to Springdale for the first round of the District Tournament on Tuesday, May 9, in Ritzville. Head Coach Todd O’Brien said the reason for the loss is hesitation up to bat and inconsistency on the mound. Springdale started the game strong as they made solid contact with the ball on offense. The Ritzville Lions Club is selling chicken as a fundraiser on Friday, May 19, at the chicken shack on the Wheat Land Communities’ Fairgrounds. Chicken will be sold for $8 a half, and only chicken is being sold during the fundraiser. The sale begins at 11:30 a.m., and will continue until the chicken is sold out. Caring Neighbors, a nonprofit entity established by Big Bend Electric Cooperative, recently donated $300 to the Washtucna Alumni Association. The money will be used to help fund scholarships for students from Washtucna and Benge through the Washtucna-Benge Communities’ Scholarship Trust.
