    Educators and alumni will gather for Lind High School’s 48th annual banquet on Saturday, May 11, in the renamed Lind-Ritzville Middle school gymnasium. The Ritzville Adams County Journal is scheduled to take honored class photographs prior to the start of the banquet. The classes of 1953, 1963, 1973, 1983, 1988, 1993, 2003 and 2013 need to arrive prior to 5:30 p.m. for photographs. Lind Alumni Board members will serve as hosts for this year’s alumni banquet.     With a 10-4 win over Davenport in the first round of district baseball Tuesday, the LRS Broncos have advanced to a 10 a.m. game with the Reardan Indians on Monday, May 13, in Medical Lake.     The H.E. Gritman Senior Center will host a Mother’s Day lunch on Thursday, May 9, at noon and the monthly pancake breakfast on Friday, May 10, from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Mother’s Day lunch menu consists of chef salad, a half of a chicken sandwich on a croissant and strawberry shortcake for dessert.     Range re-vegetation plots at the Figure 50 ranch between Lamont and Ritzville will be available for viewing on Wednesday, May 15 from 9–11 a.m. The plots are part of a long-term collaboration on managing Crooked Calf Syndrome between WSU and USDA ARS Poisonous Plant and Forage and Range Research Laboratories in Logan, Utah.     The 2013 Adams County candidate filing period opens on Monday, May 13, and closes on May 17 for the Aug. 6 primary election and Nov. 5 general election.     The City of Ritzville, long faced with a system of wells that struggle to function properly, has commenced construction on a new well near its current water storage tank on the Ritzville Municipal Golf Course. Schneider Equipment & Drilling of St. Paul, Ore., won the bid to drill the new well for $1,075,536.36.     The USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) will be holding a Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) general sign-up from May 20 through June 14. Adams County has 42,870.4 acres expiring in 2013 and FSA is asking producers to conduct research before sign-up. Farmers are asked to do a complete field inspection, looking at CRP and observing if it is large groups of sagebrush with a variety of grasses or one dominant type.     Kylie Fullmer, librarian at Ritzville Public Library, competed in her first full marathon in Wenatchee on April 20 and placed first in her age division for females. Fullmer, who celebrated her 28th birthday on race day, finished the 26.2-mile race in 3:48.26 and finished 33rd overall in the field of 168 Wenatchee Marathon runners.
