The LRS Broncos’ baseball season came to an abrupt end Tuesday afternoon when they were defeated in their first round of district play by the Davenport Gorillas, 4-2. The May 2 track meet in Connell proved successful for the LRS girls’ track and field team, who earned a top finish at the meet. The girls took first place with a total of 83 points. The LRS Bronco track and field team traveled to Lakeside High School to compete in the NE 1B/2B League Meet on April 29. The Ritz Theatre is continuing to work towards completing the renovations and improvements within the building, and has now established office hours for individuals to learn more about the project. While the theatre has received tremendous support, the fundraising efforts are still about $30,000 from being able to purchase the digital projector necessary to show recently released movies at the theatre. Becoming a newspaper owner on April Fools day just seemed poetic to me at the time. The Ritzville Museum Volunteers are hosting the annual meeting at Memories Diner on May 13 at 10 a.m. The purpose of the meeting is to begin planning for the summer at the local museums and ensure the museums are open for all to enjoy throughout the season. The meeting is open to the public and coffee and rolls are provided. The meeting agenda also includes a presentation about the plans for the summer and exciting ideas for tour groups and visitors to the museums. The Lind-Ritzville FFA chapter’s land judging team finished fourth in the nation at the 63rd Annual National Land, Range and Homesite Contest in Oklahoma City last week. The team technically tied for third place with Clay County FFA Chapter from West Virginia. Many Farm Service Agency (FSA) disaster programs have been reformed under the Agricultural Act of 2014 that was signed into law on Feb. 7. “We’ve been very lucky in Washington State that we have not experienced some of the disasters currently affecting other states,” Chris Holt, CED said. “However, with the new Farm Bill, these programs are now permanent and will be there for our farmers and ranchers if they do need help in future years.” The current disaster programs authorized under the new Farm Bill include the following...
