The Ritzville Lions Club is selling chicken as a fundraiser on Friday, May 6, at the chicken shack on the Wheat Land Communities’ Fairgrounds. The fundraiser is in coordination with White Cane Days, which occurs on May 6-7 throughout Ritzville. Chicken will be sold for $7 a half, and only chicken is being sold during the fundraiser. New exhibits and memorabilia at the Depot Museum and the Burroughs’ Home may entice residents to visit in 2016. A bed and table, owned by the Burroughs’ family, has been loaned to the Burroughs’ Home by the Lind Historical Society. The bed has a beautiful headboard and the table is topped with marble and is on display in the parlors. Marian Ruth (Hoefel) Munroe, 93, died on April 25, in Portola Valley, California. She was born and raised in Ritzville to parents David and Hannah (Morach) Hoefel. Following her graduation from Ritzville High School in 1941, she received her Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from the University of Washington. Marian worked for several years at United Airlines as a stewardess. In 1949 she married Hugh Munroe and they lived in San Mateo, for many years. The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague tennis team is winding down on league competition and preparing for post-season play. In the past matches, the team has had varied success, but the No. 1 singles players for the Broncos remain undefeated in league competition.
