    Andrew Buriak is speaking at the Emanuel Ladies Tea on Sunday, April 22, at 3 p.m. about a program he is involved in to build houses made of plastic in Haiti. Buriak is the son of Kiera and Ben Buriak, and graduated from Ritzville High School in 2007. Buriak is currently a senior at Western Washington University (WWU) in Bellingham where he is majoring in plastic engineering and vehicle engineering technology.     The Ritzville FFA Chapter’s annual banquet has been set for Thursday, April 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the Ritzville Grade School cafeteria. At the banquet, the chapter is honoring its accomplishments for the past year, giving out chapter awards and recognition, having a guest speaker, special entertainment, announcing senior awards, and announcing the new officers for the 2012-2013 year.     The Ritzville Public Library is hosting Business After Hours on Thursday, April 26 from 5:30-7 p.m. with special guest, Lionel Delevingne. Delevingne, a native of France, is a photographer that co-produced the local book, “Drylands, a Rural American Saga” with author Steve Turner. Turner, who published two books about the local area, passed away peacefully on March 18 at his home in Santa Cruz, Calif.     The Ritzville High School Class of 1958 is accepting applications for its annual scholarship to college students entering the second, third or fourth year of school. To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must have attended RHS for two years and be a graduate of the school. Applications are available by contacting Mike Telecky and are due by May 25.     Tickets for the 2012 RHS Alumni Banquet have been mailed. Ticket sales for this year’s banquet, hosted by the Ritzville Alumni Association, ends on Monday, May 21. Tickets are $22 each until the deadline, with the price increasing to $25 each after the deadline.     Governor Christine Gregoire has appointed Anna Franz, a 2002 graduate from Lind High School, to the Big Bend Community College Board of Trustees.     The baseball program for the Broncos is on a roll this season with the team posting an overall record of 10-1. On April 10, the Broncos delivered Northwest Christian a pair of losses, 8-7 and 5-1. Saturday, April 14, the team traveled to Kettle Falls where they one the first game of the doubleheader 12-1 in five innings. They would suffer their first loss in the second game 1-5.     The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague track and field team traveled to Colfax High School on April 10 to compete in the District 7 League meet. Matt Fryberger and Ryan Whitmore lead the boys’ team by both placing second and third in two of their events. Kate Schell secured two third place finishes at the event, as well as helping the 800-meter relay team earn fourth place.
