    The City of Ritzville Tree Board is set to host the annual Arbor Day Celebration on Wednesday, April 10.   • Countywide clean up day is Saturday

    The annual Adams County free residential yard waste clean up day is scheduled for Saturday, April 6. The county transfer stations are accepting non-commercial green waste and loads of yard debris from residents from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Appliances and electronics are also accepted free of charge at the transfer stations during the event.   • Gospel quartet to perform in Ritzville

    The Ritzville Nazarene Church is welcoming the southern gospel quartet “FourGiven” on Sunday, April 7, at 10:30 a.m. Formed in 1990, FourGiven is traveling from the Spokane First Church of the Nazarene and still has two of its original members.   • Variety show to benefit theater

    The Ralston Grange will host “Puttin’ on the Ritz,” a variety show, on Friday, April 19, to benefit The New Ritz Theatre.     A painting workshop is being held in the Ritzville Art Gallery on every Wednesday in the month of April. The classes run from 1:30-4:30 p.m. and those who attend are asked to bring a painting to work on during the three-hour workshop. Carol Schwisow will be in attendance at all of the classes to provide instruction and assist participants as needed. Schwisow has extensive experience with oil and watercolor painting.     The Lind-Ritzville High School National Honor Society students are hosting the second annual Community Shred Day on Saturday, April 27. The annual event runs from 9 a.m. until noon in the Gilson Gymnasium parking lot. The association is selling advertising placards for the float trailer that travels to approximately 14 parades a year.     The Caring Neighbors board recently donated $1,000 to the LRS Bronco football program. The donated money will be used to purchase four new football helmets.     Victor Eugene Borth died at the age of 85, on March 26 in Ritzville. He was born Aug. 25, 1927, to Rudolph and Barbara (Ottmar) Borth on his uncle Frederick Borth’s farm north of Lind. Victor was one of six children: Eleanor (Pence), Gloria (Sackmann), Cleve, Barbara (VanBuren), and Marjorie who died as an infant. In 1929, the family moved to a farm north of Paha, where he and his future wife, Bette, would later settle and raise their family of five children: Doug, Vicki, Pam, Denise and Brian.
