A fundraiser, benefit dinner is being hosted by the Eagles Auxiliary for a group of Lind-Ritzville High School students who are planning an educational trip to Washington, D.C. The dinner runs from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Feb. 13 at the Eagles Lodge in downtown Ritzville. Tickets are $12, and the meal includes salad, spaghetti, meatballs, bread and dessert....
The Ralston Grange will host their fourth annual cribbage tournament on Saturday, Feb. 11, at their hall. The event will begin at 2 p.m. and is open to all community members wishing to participate. An entry fee of $5 will be collected to go towards winning cash prizes. No experience in playing cribbage is needed to participate in the event and participants will have an opportunity to learn the rules of the game prior to the start of the tournament. The Ritzville Public Library is presenting a workshop for residents who are interested in learning more about creating a successful habitat in their yards. The Blood Drive scheduled at Lind-Ritzville High School has been moved to Tuesday, Feb. 28. The Adams County Board of Commissioners has announced Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Highway Safety Improvement funding has been secured to complete a much needed safety improvement at the intersection of Bench Road and State Route 24. The Washington State Auditor’s Office completed an exit conference with Adams County regarding the audit for the 2015 fiscal year. The report included both a financial and accountability audit for the county. The exit conference was completed on Dec. 19, before the audit reports were published for public review on Jan. 3. Jimmie Bostic died on Jan. 18. He was born to Dwight and Ruth Bostic on Dec. 10, 1945, in Glen Burnie, Maryland. In his life, Jimmie had many accomplishments including a Bachelor of Fire Science, Associates of Business, PADI rescue diver, Lieutenant in the Anne Arundel Fire Department, Certified visual tracker, National Park ranger, high mountain rescue and glacier rescue. The Broncos wrestling team began their post season with four athletes competing at the South League District Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 4, to determine their ranking in the Regional Tournament on Feb. 11. The Broncos have two wrestlers who qualified for the Regional Tournament, while two additional athletes will serve as alternates. The Lady Broncos are coming off of a three game winning streak during the past week as they enter into the District Tournament. Caring Neighbors, a nonprofit entity established by Big Bend Electric Cooperative, recently donated $500 to the Washtucna School District Reading Program. The Reading Program is designed to help promote independent reading by immersing each student in books. The students were given information about pollinators and asked to describe ways pollinator habitats could be improved.
