Ritzville Art Center recently announced the results from the first annual Christmas ornament contest. Proceeds made from the contest totaled $233 and were donated to the Adams County Pet Rescue organization, in addition to food and animal treats that were also donated. The members of the Lind Alumni Association met recently to plan the annual Alumni Banquet and meeting. The Banquet is in the Lind High School gymnasium on May 12, at 6:30 p.m. Cathy Jo’s Catering has been chosen to cater the banquet again this year. A Washington State Patrol pilot and his airplane proved vital in a local attempt to capture a driver who refused to yield to law enforcement and led them on an hour-long adventure through the rolling hills and coulees between Ritzville and Ralston on Monday, Jan. 30. The Board of Directors of Big Bend Electric Cooperative, Inc. recently voted to refund more than $1.98 million to the Cooperative’s consumers. Refunds are being mailed to consumers who purchased power from the Cooperative during 1995, 1996 or 2010. Effective Jan. 30, the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) Community Service office located on 1025 S. First Avenue, Othello, is no longer open to the public. Services can only be accessed in person at the Moses Lake office located at 1620 S. Pioneer. During the Adams County Conservation District Wheat Growers meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 31, nine students received awards for their soil essays. Micheala Doyle began collecting donated eyeglasses on Jan. 2, and after the first month-long session of her project, has successfully collected 161 pairs of glasses. Doyle is running her project in two sessions, the second that began on Feb. 2.
