The Lind Senior Center will host white elephant bingo on Sunday, Feb. 17, at 3 p.m. at the center in downtown Lind. Following bingo is a stew feed, accompanied with salad and dessert, beginning at 5 p.m. There is no cost for bingo with a limit of two cards per player. A handgun and a variety of small items were taken when a thief or thieves entered four unlocked cars earlier this week, as a rash of vehicle prowls continued in the City of Ritzville. According to Ritzville Police reports, four complaints were received on Monday, Jan. 28, regarding vehicles that were entered sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning. The roster of Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) serving the Lind, Ritzville and Washtucna communities has been in a state of decline for some time. Based on recent violent events, there is a statewide push to increase safety and security at hospitals and emergency rooms, leading East Adams Rural Hospital to implement a new policy on Jan. 25. The East Adams Rural Hospital Safety Committee has recommended locking and securing the perimeter at the hospital more often to ensure the safety of the patients and staff. Carole N. Fannin died at the age of 73, on Sunday, Jan. 27, at the Life Care Center of Ritzville. She was born on Nov. 25, 1939, to Charles and Mildred Lovely, in Chilliquin, Ore. She married Derwood Fannin Sr., in October 1955 and they had five children, Derk, Junior, Dennis, Andy and Dena. Dorothy B. (Oestreich) Rogel, died at the age of 103, on Thursday, Jan. 24. She was born on Dec. 25, 1909, to Henry and Katherine Oestreich at the family home in Ritzville, she was the last of five children and was very proud of her German heritage. She married Victor Rogel on Sept. 9, 1939, sharing 34 wonderful years of marriage.
