    The H.E. Gritman Senior Center board and interested parties gathered for the annual meeting on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 1:00 p.m. Minutes from the previous year’s meeting were unanimously approved. Janet Sanger reported on the financial status of the Center. In 2017, the Center took in $37,900.62 and spent $36,834.55 on expenses – showing a positive balance of $1,066 (the previous year had a negative balance).   • Big Bend Co-op to refund $2.1 million to electric bill payers

    The Board of Trustees of Big Bend Electric Cooperative, Inc. recently approved the refund of over $2.1 million to the Cooperative’s electric bill payers. Refunds are being mailed to consumers who purchased power from the Cooperative during the years of 1999, 2000 and 2017.     It was a tough weekend for the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos basketball team, as they dropped a pair of league games to fall to 2-5 in league play and 6-10 overall on the season. The Broncos started their weekend on the road in Spangle on Jan. 18 as they took on the Liberty Lancers. LRS trailed by nine points at halftime and by 15 points after three quarters before outscoring Liberty 20-14 in the fourth quarter to lose by a score of 63-54.     The interior of Gilson gym was brightly lit and full of energy on Tuesday evening, Jan. 15. It was the beginning of Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Bronco’s only home wrestling match of the season.     Last Thursday, January 17, under cloudy skies and an incessant chilling rain, four young Scouts scrambled out of their vehicles to deliver the end of their campaign to collect pairs of socks to be passed out to those in need at the Ritzville Food Pantry.     The Ritzville City Council met for its regularly scheduled meeting on Jan. 15, as the council dealt with some housekeeping items and discussed Public Works’ infrastructure plan.     Ritzville and County firefighters were called to a residence at 10th and Adams at approximately just before 8 p.m. on Sunday evening, Jan. 20, to extinguish a fire which was reported to be in the living room area.
