    The Soul Café members are inviting community members and families to attend a free movie night at the center. The movie night will be held on the last Thursday of every month.     The first meeting of the New Year for the Ralston Grange will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the hall in Ralston.     Big Bend Community College is sponsoring a Pilot’s Safety Seminar on Saturday, Jan. 31, at BBCC Flight Training Center Building (3000) at the Grant County International Airport.     Ritzville resident Scott Morrill opened a trading card and sports memorabilia shop last year and is now in the process of assuming ownership of the thrift store, which occupies the same building in downtown Ritzville.     Over the weekend, rain fell heavily throughout Adams County. During the regular meeting of the Adams County Commissioners, which was held on Tuesday due to the Monday holiday, Public Works Director Todd O’Brien gave his report on the rain’s effect throughout the county.     The construction in and around East Adams Rural Hospital has slowed considerably as project managers wait for approvals and continuances from officials. Apollo Construction remains actively working on the electrical switchboards and components surrounding the switchboards while the remainder of the projects are at a current standstill.   • Courthouse alarm triggered by faulty sensor

    On Wednesday, Jan. 14, Ritzville Fire Department crews responded to the Adams County Courthouse on West Broadway after a fire alarm sounded on the third floor. The building was evacuated and firefighters began to search the building for any signs of a blaze. According to Ritzville Fire Chief Jim Bostic, firefighters isolated the alarm to the west wing on the third floor of the building. They discovered a faulty sensor had triggered the alarm.     The H.E. Gritman senior center is gearing up for 2015. The center is looking for one or two individuals who are interested in cooking one to three days each week. Volunteers are also needed to serve breakfast, lunches, do janitorial work, expand center programs and work at Second Harvest on the fourth Tuesday of each month.
