    Three school districts have closed school for Thursday - Lind, Ritzville and Washtucna after initially calling for a two-hour delay. As of 6:30 a.m. Thursday, schools were starting late today. LaCrosse, Lind, Ritzville and Washtucna schools are running two hours late. There is no preschool for Ritzville students. Washtucna will not run kindergarten, preschool or offer breakfast....

    The Lind Grange Hall is hosting a luncheon on Sunday, Jan. 22, for Lind community member, Ray Jenkins. Jenkins continues to battle cancer, and over the holidays, began chemotherapy again.     A new, nondenominational, eight-week women’s Bible study class will begin the first week in February and conclude the last week in March.     Pheasants Forever will be hosting a hunter education and firearms safety class in Lind during the month of February. There is no fee to participate in the class and everyone is welcome.     Scratching and clawing their way back into league contention has not been easy for the Broncos, but the local basketball team has made progress since the start of the New Year, winning four of five contests.     The LaCrosse-Washtucna boys’ basketball team ended the week with a win after playing in three games last week and suffering two losses.     The LaCrosse-Washtucna girls’ basketball team continues to struggle to get a win in the second half of the season, after losing all three of their games last week. The Lady Tigercats played a competitive game against Odessa-Harrington, but lost by a large margin against both Rosalia and Garfield-Palouse.     Saturday night revenge was sweet. The Lady Broncos delivered Davenport an upset loss, 50-41, in Gilson Gymnasium.     A resolution of the Board of Directors for both the Lind and Ritzville school districts submitted a proposition of a tax levy that will appear on the Feb. 14 ballot. The levy replaces the Maintenance and Operation Levy that is currently in place at both school districts.     Leland M. Woodard, who built custom homes in Everett, died from two gunshot wounds to the head, Jan. 11, 2012, at the age of 52. The family says he was a very proud father, a first time grandfather and a gifted carpenter. Woodard was born on Easter Sunday, March 29, 1959, in Ritzville, first born son of Leland C.
