On Jan. 10, The Ritz Roadhouse is inviting community members to join with them in supporting Karson Cornwell and his family with a spaghetti feed. The Cornwell’s are a Corbert family who are currently struggling to raise money for stem cell therapy for young Karson. Six-year-old Karson suffers from Multiple Sclerosis and his family has been raising money to help pay for an experimental medical treatment that may cure him. The Peace by Piece Quilt Guild is having the first meeting for the New Year on Monday, Jan. 12, at the Zion Philadelphia United Church of Christ at 7:15 p.m. Anyone interested in joining the club is encouraged to attend the meeting. A rollover wreck 24 miles west of Ritzville on eastbound I-90 on Dec. 31 claimed the life of a Seattle woman and left two injured. Giselle Naughton, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash just before 7 a.m. Naughton has been traveling eastbound on I-90 when the car went off the roadway. The Lind Town Council approved the town’s budget for 2015 at their regular meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 9. With a total of $1,775,178.85 in revenues and expenditures the council voted 4-1, Councilmember Paula Bell opposed, for its approval of the final budget with final corrections noted at the meeting by council members. On Dec. 22 the Adams County Board of Commissioners Jeff Stevens, Roger Hartwig and John Marshall adopted the final 2015 budget for the county. On Sunday, Jan. 4, nearly three inches of snow fell in Ritzville and the surrounding areas. The snow created difficult driving conditions for local commuters, as well as travelers on the interstate. Gritman Senior Center will host its pancake breakfast on Friday, Jan. 9, from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Breakfast will feature pancakes, a choice of ham or sausage and coffee with a suggested donation of $5 per person. Steven Kenneth Williams, 65, died Dec. 22, in Bellevue after a brief struggle with cancer. Steve lived in the greater Seattle area for the past six years where he worked as a CPA for Melang, Hopps & Company. Steve attended Central Washington State and received his bachelors in accounting.
