    The Lind School Board of Directors unanimously voted to move forward with placing a Maintenance and Operation (M&O) and a 15-year general obligation bond on the upcoming special election ballot during the regular meeting on Dec. 23. The two-year M&O levy replaces the current levy, while the bond is being placed on the ballot to attend to the more immediate and crucial improvement needs at the schools.   • Sackmann renews agreement with hospital district

    Charles Sackmann, MD, will continue to work part time for Adams County Public Hospital District No. 2. Sackmann signed a one-year extension of the current arrangement with the district to serve as an emergency room physician for the district. Hospital district CEO Gary Bostrom told the board of commissioners on Thursday, Dec. 19, that Sackmann was opting to continue the existing agreement.   • Grant assists Ritzville Library to provide science series

    The Ritzville Public Library has recently received a Pushing the Limits grant, funded by the National Science Foundation, in the amount of $2,500. The grant was awarded to 75 small, rural libraries throughout the nation. The $2,500 grant is used for the library staff members to put on a four-month long series of discussions based around books with a science theme.     The Dec. 20 multiple vehicle wreck on Interstate 90 was a harrowing experience for many motorists.     Finding a new, full time physician for the hospital district will be one of CEO Gary Bostrom’s priorities in 2014. Bostrom has been negotiating with several physician recruitment services in recent weeks, looking to retain the agency or agencies that will best serve the district’s needs. The Lady Tigercats faced Dayton Friday night before returning to the court Saturday afternoon to play Asotin.     On Tuesday, Dec. 17, the LRS Broncos wrestling team traveled to Reardan for a league match. Three wrestlers competed there. Karl Hawks wrestled at 195 pounds.     At 12:46 p.m. on Friday (Dec. 20), the alert went out for a multi-vehicle, multi-injury accident on I-90. Within less than a minute, an ambulance and a rescue unit were on the street. Again, the call went out for more help and by 1 p.m., three more ambulances and five fire/rescue trucks were in route.
