    On Jan. 10 five athletes from the Broncos wrestling team made the trek to compete in the Springdale Tournament. The team was short a few athletes, with one injured, another out after having their tonsils removed and with some athletes ineligible to participate because of grades. Josh Yow wrestled in the 145-pound bracket at the tournament. His first opponent was from Rainier. The match was very close, in the second round Yow went to turn his opponent but went too high.     Despite a good start against Northwest Christian on Tuesday, Jan. 6, the Lady Broncos fell behind their opponent, losing the game 73-47. After the first quarter the LRS team trailed the Lady Crusaders 23-16.     After a slow start last week, the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos picked up their game and rattled of an impressive streak of wins.     The Lind Town Council approved the town’s budget for 2015 at their regular meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 9. With a total of $1,775,178.85 in revenues and expenditures the council voted 4-1, Councilmember Paula Bell opposed, for its approval of the final budget with final corrections noted at the meeting by council members.   • Commissioners adopt Adams County 2015 budget

    On Dec. 22 the Adams County Board of Commissioners Jeff Stevens, Roger Hartwig and John Marshall adopted the final 2015 budget for the county.     On Sunday, Jan. 4, nearly three inches of snow fell in Ritzville and the surrounding areas. The snow created difficult driving conditions for local commuters, as well as travelers on the interstate.     The Lind Town Council met to settle the last of the 2014 business on Tuesday, Dec. 23. During the meeting, council members also received an engineering update for Alan Gay of Stantec.     During their regular session on Dec. 16 the Ritzville City Council voted to approve Ordinance 2083 amending the 2014 Budget. The ordinance addressed the additional revenues and expenses in six funds, which were not anticipated at the adoption of the 2014 Budget. The first fund amended is Current Expense with an additional $157,000 in revenues and expenses. Of that, $140,000 came from grant money received by the city and $17,000 from miscellaneous revenues.   • RPDA moves forward with Business Park, Ag Discovery Center project

    The Ritzville Public Development Authority (RPDA) work is continuing on the proposed business park and ag discovery center. With the Ritzville City Council and the Adams County Commissioners both signing off on the interlocal agreement the next step, according to RPDA President Erika Hennings, is to survey the land. As of Thursday, Dec. 18, surveyors were already working to measure the parcel of land.     During the spring the horse barn at the Wheat Land Communities’ Fairgrounds burned beyond repair. The barn could not be rebuilt in time for the 2014 Wheat Land Communities’ Fair so temporary pens were set up with panels from Bronco Farm Supply.     At the Nov. 18 meeting of the Ritzville City Council, members voted to approve the allocation of the city’s 110 Funds for the 2015-year. This year’s requests for funds totaled $118,625. The council voted to approve allocations of $73,500 out of the total requests with $5,000 kept in reserve to cover the expense of re-installing the metal structures that were removed during work on the intersection at the entrance to the city.
