    The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague baseball team is partway into their season and is in the midst of facing the top teams in the Northeast 2B league. They started last week by facing the Northwest Christian Crusaders in a doubleheader on March 29.     The March 22 Lind Town Council meeting began with discussion about the claims approval as the amounts listed did not balance. Town Clerk/Treasurer Denise Snead looked into the issue and stated she would be unable to fix this until the next day when she could access the file to balance the funds.     The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague fastpitch team’s first doubleheader of the season was postponed from March 22 to March 26 due to rain. On March 26 the team took on the Wilbur-Creston Lady Wildcats for their season opener. The Lady Broncos were able to take the win in both games by ten running the opponent, 17-7 and 16-6.     The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos baseball team played their first two doubleheaders of the season and are now more comfortable with their positions on the field. The Broncos took on Wilbur-Creston for their opening doubleheader of the season on March 23 here in Ritzville. They split the series starting off with a 5-4 win over the Wildcats and ending with a 6-18 loss.   • Memorial installed in Ritzville City Park from donation funds

    The City of Ritzville received a large donation from the Springer Family to erect a memorial in the Ritzville City Park in the Spring of 2015. Since then the Tree Board has been working to secure pillars for this memorial. The memorial includes three rock pillars of various sizes and will include a 20-foot lighted flagpole, as was requested by the family. A few bronze plaques will also accompany the pillars.     The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos golf team stepped onto the Ritzville Municipal Golf Course for the first match of the season on Tuesday, March 15, at 2 p.m. and hosted the Colfax Bulldogs and the Inchelium Hornets.     The meeting of the Lind Town Council occurred on Tuesday, March 8, at 7 p.m. beginning with the council hearing updates from Alan Gay from Stantec. Gay advised he has not heard back from the Department of Ecology (Ecology) and has been advised to not move forward with the excavation of the culverts within the Town. The first topic discussed was Resolution 2016-03, a request to name Highway 395 after Thomas Stephen Foley. Foley was a Washington native and served in the United States House of Representatives from 1965 to 1995.     The City of Ritzville will be distributing an income survey to the approximate 800 residents within the service area of the City’s utilities. The purpose of the survey is to establish the percentage of low to moderate income levels within the city. These levels are required for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application.     The Bronco mat squad traveled to Tacoma this past weekend to compete in the 28th Mat Classic State Tournament at the Tacoma Dome. There were 24 mats set up and non-stop competition happening across all of them.     Thirty years ago Jake and P.J. Jacobsen started a store by the name of ‘Babikis’ in Seattle, which sold natural fiber clothing. At this time there was a very small section of clothes for mothers and the remaining stock was geared towards babies.
