The annual Wheat Land Communities’ Fair Junior Livestock Sale ran smoothly, as coordinators and exhibitors worked together for another successful event. The auction grossed $76,955, according to Livestock Sale Treasurer Lori Williams. The Saturday afternoon auction on Sept. 3 featured over 40 exhibitors with a total of 81 animals being sold at the auction. East Adams Rural Healthcare is moving forward with preparing for the potential conversion of the East Adams Care Center into a wing of the hospital and it served as the main point of conversation during the Hospital Board of Directors meeting on Aug. 22. The Lind and Ritzville School Boards discussed the upcoming school year and administrators shared their goals for the year during the monthly meeting on Aug. 22. A confirmed discovery of genetically engineered (GE) wheat plants growing in a fallow field in Eastern Washington has led to a federal inspection. The discovery led to temporary deferment of wheat imports with overseas customers, but national and local agencies are working diligently to remedy the situation.
