Master Gardener Volunteer Mona Kaiser presented to a full room of residents on Feb. 18 at the WSU Extension Office, regarding late winter gardening for a thriving landscape. The Ritzville City Council continued their discussion regarding the establishment of a marijuana moratorium ordinance for the city during the regular meeting on Feb. 7. In order to adopt the ordinance, the Council held a public forum to hear from residents regarding their input and thoughts on the moratorium. The Ritzville Area Chamber of Commerce is relocating the office in anticipation of a more conducive office space and also for an opportunity to strengthen a partnership with the City of Ritzville. After a staffing change in late 2016, the Chamber board began reevaluating the best long term options for the facility. The Hospital District No. 2 Board of Commissioners unanimously agreed during their Jan. 26 meeting to form a committee to decide the best option for the former East Adams Care Center (EACC) building. At the risk of facing a pool closure during the upcoming summer season, the Adams County Parks and Recreation District No. 4 board is placing a capital improvement levy on the Feb. 14 Special Election ballot. The proposed levy is $80,000 for the resurfacing of the recreational pool at the Ritzville Water Park facilities. The levy is for collection in 2018, but the work would be completed at the pool prior to the 2017 opening.
