    Initially planning for the East Adams Care Center to be converted into a wing of the hospital on Oct. 1, hospital district administrators are anticipating a delay in approval.     The LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus Lady Tigercats started off the season on the right foot with a victory against Tekoa-Rosalia in a nonleague competition. The Lady Tigercats continued on to defeat Prescott in a nonleague match before losing a nonleague match to St. John-Endicott.     The first away game for the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos proved unsuccessful after Northwest Christian earned a 63-7 league victory. In what had been expected to be a competitive game, the Crusaders showed their improvement in the early season game and displayed more experience on the gridiron.     The annual Wheat Land Communities’ Fair Junior Livestock Sale ran smoothly, as coordinators and exhibitors worked together for another successful event. The auction grossed $76,955, according to Livestock Sale Treasurer Lori Williams. The Saturday afternoon auction on Sept. 3 featured over 40 exhibitors with a total of 81 animals being sold at the auction.     The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos suffered their first loss on the home field since 2010 on Friday night when an experienced Asotin team ran away with a 27-0 victory.     East Adams Rural Healthcare is moving forward with preparing for the potential conversion of the East Adams Care Center into a wing of the hospital and it served as the main point of conversation during the Hospital Board of Directors meeting on Aug. 22. The conversion is expected to occur Oct. 1, following the approval of the application through CMS.     A confirmed discovery of genetically engineered (GE) wheat plants growing in a fallow field in Eastern Washington has led to a federal inspection. The discovery led to temporary deferment of wheat imports with overseas customers, but national and local agencies are working diligently to remedy the situation. In late June, a farmer located 22 wheat plants that proved to be resistant to herbicide glyphosate, commonly known as Roundup. While battling the fire, the department then received a call for a fire on U.S. Route 395.     The Lind-Ritzville Cooperative School Districts elected to have lead water testing completed in all of the school buildings. All of the tests came back with positive results for the school districts.     After losing one of the Ritzville community’s favorite pastimes when the doors of the local bowling alley closed, the facility has now reopened as Bob’s Big Bend Bowl. The alley is now open Monday through Saturday and is managed by owner Bob Seipp and his family. Seipp has an important bond with the Ritzville alley, as he helped install the lanes.
