A memorial bench was dedicated on May 25 at Bassett Park in Washtucna, in memory of Sydney (Syd) Sullivan who was mayor for 44 years. Securing funding for upgrading Washtucna's water system and new sidewalks were two examples of Syd's many major accomplishments as mayor. The memorial bench was a gift by surviving members of Syd's Washtucna High School Class of 1948. The dedication program was sponsored by the Office of the Mayor of Washtucna and the Washtucna Museum.
