Project 56 has launched a grain drive through accounts established at Ritzville Warehouse Company and Union Elevator and Warehouse Company in Lind. Producers interested in supporting the organization with donations of wheat or other commodities need to inform the elevator how much to donate. Three years after being charged with animal cruelty, Sharon Provost was convicted on June 23 in Adams County Superior Court. Sentencing for the Lind resident is set for Friday, July 15, at 2 p.m. The case originated on July 12, 2008, when the Adams County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant and arrested Provost on East Third Street in Lind. Eight Ritzville firefighters responded to the Top Hat Motel around 10:15 a.m. Tuesday morning where evergreen shrubs were ablaze. Initially, it was reported as a structure fire. The Ritzville fire truck, a brush truck and the rescue rig were on the scene and used 750 gallons of water. The annual Washtucna Classic Auto Show on June 25 realized a significant drop in entries with 40 vehicles registered compared to nearly 90 in 2009. Family, friends, Eagles members and community members gathered in downtown Ritzville the morning of June 25 to honor Klay McCrady through a statue dedication.
